Hi, my name is Anup Kanodia, MD, MPH. As a classically trained physician, it did not take me long to realize that my initial medical school training was not enough for me to fundamentally help people achieve true, long lasting health. Early in my residency, I began to notice that the symptom/drug approach worked for acute problems, such as severe bacterial infections and heart attacks, but this model was fundamentally flawed for chronic health conditions. It did not and does not work. The reason this model is inadequate is because it is entrenched in dispensing pharmaceuticals that often have severe side effects and not in how to search for the “root” cause and treat the person, not just their symptom.
This realization turned my world upside down and forced me to ask myself these two questions, “Is this what it means to be a doctor?” and “Do I just want to write prescriptions all day long to camouflage symptoms?” For me, the answer was an absolute “No.” And so began my journey and another three years of medical training that introduced me to the world of Alternative and Functional training. It was during this time that I found the answers that were missing. I learned how to help people get to the root cause of a myriad of different illnesses such as chronic fatigue, allergies, recurrent infections, depression and irritable bowel. I learned how stress could destroy a person’s health and that yeast overgrowth is the silent demon robbing thousands of people of their health. For the undiagnosed that had tried everything, I learned that there were solutions. It was in this body of work that my patients began to get well, stay well and live well. My original passion in medicine took on a whole new meaning and my mission was now clear: dig for the root cause, identify it, treat it and eliminate it. This process is the key to help people transform their health and empower them to live the joyful life they were meant to live.
In my free time, I enjoy staying up on any new research into medical diagnoses and treatment options to offer my patients. I also enjoy traveling both near and far and I am a huge fan of the Cleveland Browns, Indians, Cavaliers and a Buckeye at heart.
Education and Training:
Real Estate License: State of Ohio
Certification in business accounting and auditing: Moorpark College
Hi, my name is Deb Whitney. I started my career in California as a certified public accountant and auditor before moving back home to Ohio. Once in Ohio I took a job at a medical center working as a glorified patient advocate providing comfort and support to patients. I handle patient complaints and worked as the liaison between the doctor and patient. During this time my husband began his own business and I slowly transitioned out of the medical field into Office Manger for Plush Interiors. Working office administration is a passion of mine. I like seeing things in black and white and having one answer. It also provides me with the opportunity to connect with people on a regular basis. I take pleasure in being the first voice you hear or face you see when you walk through the door. This passion led me into getting my real estate license, which I practice in my spare time. I have enthusiasm for horseback riding, reading and cooking and enjoy spending time with my family. My husband and I are huge Note Dame fans (good, bad or ugly) and try to make it out to at least one game a year. Whenever I have a chance to travel I head for the beach. It is a place for me to relax and be at peace with the world.

Hello my name is Tami Gaitten. I have long been a proponent of natural health and have always believed in the body’s innate wisdom and ability to heal itself given the right tools. However, I started my career many years ago, in Information Technology. I worked for a corporation for 16 years. This took a toll on my health and my family; and I eventually made the decision to stay home to raise our 4 children. After 9 years at home, I decided to follow my passion and went back to school to become a certified health coach. I then continued on for several years to study functional nutrition and physiology, and the art of coaching. I started my own business in 2011, but when the opportunity arose to work with Dr. Kanodia in a functional medical practice, I knew this would allow me to continue to learn and grow, and to ultimately affect more change.
As a health coach, I love helping people learn to help themselves, and to realize the amazing power they hold over their own health. Lifestyle changes aren’t always easy, but with gentle guidance, education, and ongoing support they can happen almost effortlessly. I take the time to get to know each of my clients, and with careful listening I gain insight, clarify goals, explore possibilities and create strategies for success. We work together to implement their health plan taking those small concrete steps forward to reach their goals.
Lauren has a great background in nutrition and was good at helping me to find a variety of foods to avoid vitamin and mineral deficits. She also does a wonderful job of coming up with innovative and interesting recipes that made the restrictions seem less boring and confining. Her support and knowledge made such a difference.MOC
After talking with a dietitian, 57% felt better emotionally, 37% felt better physically, 64% felt in control of their condition, and 43% noticed improved health indicators.
