At KanodiaMD, our many experts work together to provide holistic, comprehensive, and dedicated care. Learn more about the crucial role our physician assistants (PAs) play and what you can expect if you have a PA appointment.
What is a PA?
A PA—or physician assistant—is a fully certified medical provider who works closely in collaboration with your doctor to examine, diagnose, and treat patients. Among other things, a PA is trained to document a patient's history, perform physical exams, order and interpret tests, as well as prescribe and manage medications and supplements. At KanodiaMD, our PAs receive comprehensive training from Dr. Kanodia to exemplify the best of functional medicine. Working hand-in-hand with the rest of our team, they are one of many critical figures along your healing and wellness journey.
When will I see a PA?
PAs at KanodiaMD help us provide dedicated, timely care to even more patients. Rather than assigning you to one provider, our experts collaborate on all patients to ensure the best possible outcomes. As a new or existing patient, you will be able to see Dr. Kanodia and/or a PA based on their availability and yours.
You may see a PA for:
A new patient appointment, where you will explore and document your history.
Follow-up appointments to check in on your progress, answer your questions, and recommend any adjustments to your health journey.
Is an appointment with a PA the same as one with Dr. Kanodia?
You can expect the same thorough, expert care at any KanodiaMD appointment. As the field of functional medicine grows, the demand for functional practitioners also increases. Our highly skilled PAs act as an extension of Dr. Kanodia, allowing us to help more patients in a timely manner. Dr. Kanodia closely trains each PA on his approach and level of care, ensuring that you receive the expertise you deserve. Having multiple providers at our practice helps us address patients who may need additional or more urgent attention.
When you meet with a PA, they will communicate and collaborate with Dr. Kanodia every step of the way. Rest assured, you can expect seamless continuity of care between Dr. Kanodia, your PA, and other experts at our practice, like health coaches or dietitians.
